CRAFTING
Every craft attempt is defined by two elements: the time required and the DC - both of which are influenced by the item's complexity.
Item Complexity
-
Very Simple: all one piece/material of simple shape with no moving parts (crowbar, quarterstaff, etc)
-
Simple: one material but requires a more specialized shape (simple weapons, backpack, clothing, pit trap)
-
Moderate: diverse materials or parts that must be integrated into a whole (martial/exotic weapons, bows, shields, locks)
-
Complex: diverse materials, moving parts, and decorative bits (armor, composite bows, crossbows, vehicles, simple alchemical items)
-
Very Complex: diverse materials, moving parts, and multiple functions (barding, ships, complex alchemical items)
Special Materials
Increases the time required by 50% and modifies the DC.
Masterwork Items
Increases the time required by 50% and adds +4 to the DC.
Exceptional Crafting
Exceeding the craft DC by 5 points halves the time required. Exceeding the craft DC by 10 points instead reduces the time required to one-quarter. In addition, for every 5 ranks the crafter has in the relevant Craft skill, the time required is halved again.
